September 15, 1949 - January 6, 2025It is with great sadness that the Sutherland family announce the passing of Ellen Louise Sutherland, born September 15, 1949. After a 25 year battle with a lung condition, Ellen passed on peacefully on Jan 6, 2025.
Ellen loved life despite the many challenges she encountered, including having lost her life partner of 32 years, Bauke, just over two years ago.
She was a scholar, a Reiki Master, a teacher, a student, a lover of books with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, especially as it applies to healing and spirituality. Ellen was the published author of "At Your Hearts Pace", a workbook on how to live fully within a dedicated spiritual life.
Ellen could find beauty in all that surrounded her, and took gentle care to help sustain that beauty in her surroundings, whether it be the people in her life, her family, close friends or students, her artwork, her beloved kitties, her plants.
Just as Ellen celebrated all of us in her life, we would like an opportunity to celebrate Ellen. Therefore we invite all who knew Ellen to attend a Celebration of Life, as planned for on Saturday June 21st, 2025, at Hidden Valley Park in Burlington from 1p.m. to 4p.m.
Like a leaf on an autumn tree, when the fair winds blew, she did let go. Peace is upon her.
