Braithwaite, James
Braithwaite, James Andrew
June 11, 1961 - May 27, 2024James "Jamie" Andrew Braithwaite, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in his home on May 27, 2024, after a difficult battle with cancer. He was born on June 11, 1961 in Etobicoke, Ontario, where he spent most of his life.
Jamie was the son of Joan and Donald Braithwaite and shared an unbreakable bond with his brother John (Lisa) Braithwaite. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Holly, with whom he shared nearly 20 years of marriage. Together, they raised a large and loving family: Robert (Melanie), Sarah (Jason), Matthew (Jaime), Kaitlynn (Justin), Cody (Jenni), Joshua (Megan), Candice, and Alisha.
Jamie's love for his wife and children was surpassed only by his love for his 13 grandchildren, who brought him more joy than words can express. Nadine, Jordyn, Connor, Ellie, Jaxon, Emma, Riley, Benjamin, Ethan, Ivan, Aidan, Olivia, and Lincoln will grow up with countless stories of their Papa playing with them, making them laugh, and teaching them to be strong.
Jamie was a hard worker, and devoted over 20 years to his career with GTAA, making countless lifelong friends in the process. Outside of his professional life, he had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He also took great pride in making his lawn and gardens look beautiful, a testament to his love for the outdoors, and his hard-working nature. He also enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights with his kids growing up and still enjoyed a good game of euchre or challenging Holly to a round of cribbage (which he usually won of course) during their numerous vacations. Jamie was an avid Walking Dead fan and enjoyed reading - he was in the process of reading the Jack Reacher series
Jamie's loss is one we all feel deeply and we know this extends beyond the family to the numerous chosen family members who were adopted along the way: Michele & Derrick (Leah & Shayde), Travis (Elsha), Kyle (Debbie & Connor), Josh & Angel, and Chris (James).
To honour Jamie's wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. In place of flowers, donations can be made to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter in Jamie's name.
Dad, from all of us: ride on, ride on.
