Hickman, Michael

Hickman, Michael
November 9, 1960 to June 30, 2021

Died peacefully in the country home that he loved. Cared for by his wife Pat, and his daughters Claire and Beckie who love him to the moon and back. Grateful thanks to Primecare Pharmacy, Dr. Spadafora, Pat Stuart and the support of Hospice Wellington colleagues.

Mike built his life after his own dad died when Mike was just 15 years old. His working life was all about giving back to his community. He was one of the first paramedic motorcyclists in the U.K. He then worked in Forensic Services with the West Midlands police. In 2004, he brought his family to Canada, the country he loves. His career continued in forensic identification services working for the Toronto Police Services, where he was admired by his colleagues for his strong work ethic.

He was a good man who enjoyed simple things – ukulele, his dogs, camping and in particular during his illness, visits from his close friend, Fred. Mike cherished time with family, especially at holiday gatherings, and even more so during this difficult time.

As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no formal service. In keeping with his philosophy of giving back to others, we ask that donations be made to either Hospice Wellington or the Grand River Cancer Centre.
