Marsales, Claudia
Marsales, Claudia
August 7, 1953 - December 29 2023
Claudia passed away after a short fight with lung cancer and she is survived by her husband John, and sons Jonathan and Jesse as well as her beloved dogs Loki, Molly, Leia and Ruby. The daughter of the late Lyle and Olga Stoneman, she was a lifelong resident of the GTA area in Ontario, grew up in Hidden Valley and lived in Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton.
For over 20 years, Claudia was the Senior Manager of Waste and Environmental Management at the City of Markham. She was a tireless campaigner for the environment, raising awareness and focusing on big picture issues at the local level.
Claudia was a dynamic woman with a great flair for fashion and a passion for gardening. She loved driving her Volkswagen Beetle and could often be seen carrying her latest purchase from an antique store. She was also an avid reader and had a keen interest in politics and often would work from home with CNN on in the back ground. She was at home redecorating and always was looking towards the future and how to improve her home and surroundings.
Cremation has taken place, honoring Claudia's wishes and there will be no public service. If you wish to do so, please make a donation in her name to an environmental charity in lieu of flowers or cards. We will plan a celebration of Claudia's life in the spring to be held at her home.
