Long, Elvin Murray
November 8, 1936 - July 8, 2024It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of Elvin at home on July 8, 2024 in his 88th year. Born on November 8, 1936 in a log cabin near Monetville, Ontario to the late Murray and Martha (née. Teal) Long. Devoted husband to Lois (née. Main) for 66 wonderful years. Cherished father of Robert (Kim), Cheryl (late Paul) Moore, Sue (Jim) Lambert and Jennifer (Rob). Adored grandfather to 13 grandchildren. Beloved great-grandfather to 23 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his sisters Mary (Axel) Doerwald and Mable (late Bob) Nix, sister-in-law Marie, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Elmer and his sister Helen. Elvin will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him for his gentle spirit, loyalty and integrity. He was known for his many years of dedicated service to the Ridgemount and Wainfleet BIC churches.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at the Wainfleet BIC Church (53007 Perry Rd. Wainfleet) Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9:30-10:45 am. Followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow. Service to be livestreamed at Wainfleet BIC Church on Youtube.

A heartfelt thank you to the palliative team of doctors, nurses, PSWs and Portal Village staff for their immense dedication and going above and beyond. You will never know how grateful we are for the part you have played in this difficult journey.
