BELOŠIČ, ERNEST

BELOŠIČ, ERNEST
July 6, 1943 - January 5, 2024

A man who will not be forgotten

Simple, without pretense, friendly, talkative and funny.  He was always interested in family, friends and people with whom he crossed the paths of life. He left us on January 5, 2024. Born on July 6, 1943, in Stupava-Mást in Slovakia. In November 1968, like thousands of others, he came to Canada after the August occupation. Here, he found a second home among generations of compatriots. In November 1970, he married Agnes. They shared their lives just shy of 54 years. Together they lived an active life, participating and helping to organize social, cultural and religious events in the Slovak communities of Toronto and later in Guelph and the surrounding area.

He worked for the big companies after he arrived in Canada. The last employers were CGE, Westinghouse, then ABB from where he retired after 32 years. Reliable and hardworking, active and passionate as an amateur athlete and dancer, he was known in the Slovak community as well as others.  He was well-liked in his neighborhood. When his eyesight deteriorated and he lost sight in one eye after numerous operations, he adapted to maintain his love of being outdoors, cycling, and walking. He had the mental and physical strength and courage to overcome the pitfalls of life.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes, son Ondrej (partner Leah and grandchildren Luka, Malin and Esa) and daughter Miriam (husband Patrick and grandchildren Anika and Maëlle). Also, by his relatives in Slovakia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernest’s name to the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish, 5255 Thornwood Drive, Mississauga, ON L4Z 3J3 would be appreciated. Funeral service details to be announced at a later date.

May his soul rest in peace.
