Lomond, Francis Gerrard
May 5, 1947 – November 24, 2023Lomond, Francis Gerrard, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully after his battle with cancer at Sakura House Hospice (VON Oxford) on Friday, November 24, 2023 at theage of 76.
Born May 5, 1947 in Codroy Valley, NFLD, he was the son of David Emmanual and Rachel Dolorosa (Downey) Lomond. Beloved husband of the late Rita Lomond (Seguin), dearly loved and loving father of sons Thomas and Troy Lomond (wife Julie) and cherished by grandchildren Bennett and Quinn Lomond. Survived by his sisters: Maureen Ryan, Anne Srigley, Joan Hitchmough, and brothers: Joseph, Leonard and David Lomond. He was predeceased by his sisters: Margaret Rose Lomond, Marie McNeil, Jane Landry and brothers: Michael Paul, Leo, and Aloysius Lomond. He will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Frank retired from the Ministry of Transportation after 30 years of service and proceeded to his true passion of driving a school bus for 15 years. He was a member of Scouts Canada Mississauga (Cub Leader) for over 20 years. He loved to make children laugh and was always a true child at heart.
A service (to be held in St. Thomas, Ontario) will be announced at a later time, and there will be a celebration of life and burial in late spring/early fall in North Bay where he can rest eternally with Rita.
Special thanks to all the family who were able to spend time with him in his final weeks, and the family and friends who prayed for him and his final journey. Without all of this support we would not have all been able to stay strong.
