Rogers, Fred
Rogers, Fred Kenneth
April 14, 1943 - February 19, 2025It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved husband, Fred Kenneth Rogers, age 81, who peacefully left us in the early morning of February 19, 2025, at McNally House Hospice, Grimsby, Ontario.
Fred was born April 14, 1943, in the town of Warkworth. Ontario, and is predeceased by his parents, Edna and Wesley. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; Stepson, Danny; Daughters, Lorie(John) and Denise (d.Moe); Grandchildren Wesley (Sonnobia); Rebecca (Connor); Ellie and Layla; Great grandsons Boaz, Kit, and Elias; and Siblings Gordon (d.Helen); Late Ernie (d. June); Late Bert (Linda); Luella (Bill); Barbara (Tom); Kathaleen (d.Frank).
Fred was a beautiful soul that took tremendous pride and joy in helping others. There was hardly a day that went by without someone calling Fred for his help. No matter what he was doing, he would drop everything and attend to their needs, and he always managed to take care of any issue they were having at that time.
Fred grew up on a farm in a small town of Warkworth. Fred loved animals and had an innate way of understanding them. Fred was a true farmer. He loved planting his vegetable garden and making his famous tomato sauce every year. He found beauty in simple things such as his flowering cactus. Fred loved Country Music and in particular Jim Reeves.
Fred wore many hats throughout his life. Fred was a Stone Mason when he worked as a foreman for Betz Cut Stone. He also drove a transport truck for Taggart where he was given the million-mile pin for safe driving. He also repaired cars and had quite the thriving business out of his garage.
Fred was a tradesman in every sense of the word. He renovated homes where he did his own plumbing, electrical, carpentry and design concepts. Fred was a perfectionist and always let the person know he did not cut corners. He did the job properly the first time.
17 years ago, after being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, Fred decided to forgo radiation therapy and tried an alternative method. He went to the Gerson Clinic in Mexico where he went on a radical diet of 14 freshly made juices a day, 7 days a week, for two years. He is featured in a documentary called "The Food Cure". This diet and lifestyle gave him 17 extra years of life he would not have had.
He looked and acted years younger than his age. That was probably due to his unique sense of humor and expressions that would make everyone around him laugh!
He will be truly missed by all the people who knew him for his immense knowledge, creativity, and kindness.
We would like to thank everyone at McNally house for the excellent care they gave Fred, and for their compassion and kindness which was truly a blessing.
