Campagnaro, Gina (Nee Sgarbossa)
November 12, 1930 - January 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gina Campagnaro of Hamilton, and formerly Stoney Creek Ontario. She passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Villa Italia in Hamilton on January 15, 2025.Gina was born in Rosà, Venezia, Italy. She married her husband Renato in April of 1953. Two days later Renato left for Canada to make a better life for them. As a newly wed bride she was sent to reside in the Campagnaro household. One year later Renato had the means for her to follow on a trans Atlantic sailing to settle in Sudbury.
In Canada, she became a mother and homemaker always enjoying the Italian social circles. She was an avid reader, very competitive at bocce, bowling and playing cards with friends. Gina was always adventurous and had many sun filled vacations.
In her later years she was comfortable in the leisurely life at the nearly all inclusive resort (Villa Italia) playing bingo, going for walks and participating in their exercise programs.
Gina was pre deceased by her husband Renato in 1969. She was also pre deceased by her siblings; Malvina, Cecilia, Angelo, Milena and Danila. She is survived by siblings; Santo, Bruna (Basso) and Franco, her four children; Debra (Charlie), Daniela (Barry), Kim (Radka), and Sonia (Jim). She was a proud grandmother to Charlie Jr., Bianca, Jordan, Jacob, Joshua, and Raylene, and great-grandmother to Wellington, Kaius, and Atwood.
A family service will be held on Wednesday, January 22 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington. A celebration of life will be held at the Venetian Club at 269 John St. N. in Hamilton following the service and all are welcome to attend.
