Geniole, John

IN LOVING MEMORY OF

JOHN GORDON GENIOLE
“Hawkeye”

 July 28, 1945 – April 13, 2025

It is with deep sadness and loving hearts that we announce the passing of John Gordon Geniole, affectionately known as Hawkeye, on April 13, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, on July 28, 1945.

John was the beloved husband of Margaret (Mallany), in their 60th year of marriage and the proud father of five daughters: Ange (John), Paula (Gary), Andie (Doug), Theresa (Johnny), and Gina (Gary). He was a cherished grandfather to Ashley, Anthony, Chantel, Chloe, Daniel, Emily, Ben, Nicky, Leo, Lily, and JohnnyJr, and a proud great-grandfather to Elio, Emma, Daenerys, Calihan, Forbes, Nathan, Nash and Serena.

He is predeceased by his loving parents, Nicholas and Rose Geniole (Dininio), and siblings Don, Tony, Julia, Raymond and Jackie.

John’s career spanned 30 years in the printing industry and later found his true calling as a perfectionist contractor and entrepreneur. He was a gifted craftsman with a meticulous eye (literally) for detail and had a very strong work ethic.

He was a lifelong lover of sports, especially hockey, baseball and boxing.  He spent many years as a dedicated hockey referee, keeping him healthy and active. From a very young age he had a special love for cars and looked forward to his annual moose hunting trips with his cousins and close friends.

Whether he was fixing his antique car, watching sports, an action movie, or sharing a laugh over a good joke, John was content and in his element.  He will be remembered for his quick wit, teasing sense of humour and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.

John loved to travel, make people laugh, and most of all looked forward to spending time with family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend whose legacy will live on in the stories shared and in the hearts he touched.

A Funeral Mass in honour of John Gordon Geniole will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Road, Georgetown, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
