Gunn, Laura Marie
May 27, 1956 - August 4, 2021
Laura Marie Gunn (Palmateer) passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, with her loving husband of 45 years, Bill Gunn by her side. Laura will be remembered for her poetry and short stories. Anything Laura put her mind to, she was able to succeed at. She successfully ran her own dog grooming business, Dandy Dogs, until she was forced to retire from it due to health issues. Laura, full of wanderlust, began travelling the world at a young age, only to find her true love Bill, in London England! Laura possessed amazing strength, clearly demonstrated by her many years as a dialysis patient. Laura was a true patron of the arts, and she and Bill enjoyed going to the theatre, the opera and the ballet. The Magic Flute was especially special to her.
Laura will be greatly missed by her wonderful husband, Bill, and their precious fur child, Mambo. Laura will also be remembered by her brother, Stan and her sister, Betty Cameron (Mark Williams) and by her nieces, Dawn and Ellen.
Special thank you to Kathy for all your help and support, to Adele for your accounting services and to all the staff of the Dialysis Unit at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Donations can be made in Laura’s name to the SPCA or St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Dialysis Unit.
The same waves drown our footsteps
And the same air chills our bones
Are we are both together
Even though we seem alone
