Stewart, Lorraine Winnifred
March 26, 1926 - October 23, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Lorraine Stewart at the age of 98. Lorraine died peacefully surrounded by her family at The Elliott Community in Guelph on October 24, 2024. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience.

She was born in Ashfield, TWP. Huron Co, Ontario in 1926 to Janet and Joseph Drennan. She worked as a Bell telephone operator for over 30-years seeing the evolution of party-line boards to computer operated headsets retiring in 1985. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a proud Grandma Sweetheart to two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was a founding member of Trinity United Church where she participated regularly in Choir, the Women’s Auxiliary, volunteering and generously providing to numerous bake sales and garage sales. She was known for her warm heart, chatty phone calls and for making the best lemon meringue pies. Lorraine received her 75-year membership pin in May of 2024 with the Order of the Eastern Star No. 108 in Guelph, a benevolent organization. Lorraine's deeds of kindness and love live on and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lorraine was preceded by her husband Melvin Roy Stewart who passed in 1996. She is survived by her daughters Dawn Myhill and Judith Muller (Ted), her grandchildren, Aaron Muller and Kendra Meek (Dustin) and four great-grandchildren, Liam, Finn, Ashford and Everleigh. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will be remembered by all who knew her.

The family would like to send sincere thanks to all those who provided support and friendship to Lorraine over the years and a heartfelt thank-you goes to the staff at The Elliott Community for their care and compassion.

A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to your choice of charity.

Lorraine will be profoundly missed but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
