Stachelscheid, Ludger (Luke)
August 4, 1956 - May 21, 2024Ludger (Luke) Stachelscheid passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 21st, 2024 at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife Celeste, sons Robert (Kate) and Kevin (Leenah). Luke is lovingly remembered by his sister, Chris (John); nieces, Alice, Andreia, Natalie, Kathy, Kayla, and Sophia; Nephews, Alex, Christoper, Rafael, and Ryan. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Frederich and Elisabeth (Fries), and niece, Yvonne.
Luke was born in Olpe, Germany on August 4th, 1956. He came to Toronto, Canada when he was two years old with his mother, sister, and tante Doris. As a young man, he practiced Judo with his good friend and future brother-in-law, John. He had an active social life that included playing cards, billiards, and darts with friends in Heart Lake and Bramalea. Luke was an avid angler; many great memories were made with friends and family at Bain Lake over the course of 25 years. Luke had a lot of pride in his work as a furniture manufacturer supervisor. He had a keen eye for furniture design and aesthetics.
It was at work that Luke met his wife Celeste. They raised their two sons together in Brampton in the close-knit and supportive community of Central Park Drive. He stopped working due to health reasons and his health continued to decline in his retirement. In 2023, Luke was diagnosed with lung cancer to which he ultimately succumbed.
He is remembered for his great sense of humour, generous heart, and delicious baking. Sage, the family dog and one of Luke’s closest companions in his final years, will miss him dearly.
We want to thank all of our friends and family for supporting us through this great loss and sharing in his memory.
A mass will be held for Luke at St Mary's Church, 66 Main St S, Brampton, ON L6W 2C6 at 10:30am on Monday May 27 followed by a reception at The Legion Branch 15.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Brampton Animal Services would be greatly appreciated by the family.
