Benninger, Marilyn
July 6, 1963 - December 2, 2024

It's with the heaviest of hearts that I share the passing of my beautiful wife Marilyn after a long, courageous, and private battle with cancer. She never complained about her illness, never asked for special treatment, or even felt sorry for herself. Instead, she threw herself into her charitable work at Children's Aid Foundation of Halton, her various businesses and making as many memories with me as time and health allowed.

She insisted we keep the number of people who knew the whole truth as small as possible, not for her sake but for theirs. She told me "no one ever felt better, including us, when we told them, so why crap all over their day too”...

She never let the illness keep her down, even going to Paris, Bourdeau and Mexico (twice!) since her diagnosis, plus dozens of smaller adventures around Ontario. She saw P!nk, Madonna, David Gray and Tears for Fears too, this cancer thing wasn't going to keep her at home!

She always gave away more than she took, be it her funds, professional leadership and accounting skills, or in many cases, just her time. She truly loved this community and as a long-time Burlington resident, she tried to make it just a little better in her own small way, ways that the public never saw.

As a sign of her respect for those she left behind, Marilyn has chosen Aquamation for her remains, and with a celebration of life for family and invited guests to be held in the new year. To help others to continue her work, please consider making a donation to the Children's Aid Foundation of Halton or to Halton Tech For Teens

I was blessed to have this most amazing woman in my life for more than 25 years, she made me better too…

A life well lived is never just about the dash…
