Thomson, Paul

Paul Robin Thomson (Papa)
October 20, 1943 - July 19, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Robin Thomson.  Paul passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19th surrounded in love with family by his side. Paul will forever be missed by the love of his life and wife of 57 years Sandra, his daughter Cheryl (Jackson), son Michael, and his 5 grandchildren (Austin, Felicia, Christopher, Colton and Chloe).

Paul lived life with vigor.  He had a zest for knowledge, and often filled his days with a book in hand.  As a young man, Paul enjoyed working with his hands.  He liked woodworking, home projects, gardening, cooking, and tinkering with his cars.  This enjoyment eventually turned into a career of many years as a printer/pressman before he retired. Paul led an active lifestyle enjoying the great outdoors and travelling with his wife and family.  He and his wife Sandra also had a love for theatre and saw many shows together.

Those who were close to Paul will surely miss his dry-witty humour, and premature laugh he had before getting to the punchline of each joke he ‘intended to tell’.  Paul, with his gentle soul and kind eyes was always someone you wanted to be around. Hearing stories and learning from his immense knowledge-there wasn’t anything he didn’t know ‘something’  about.  Paul’s kind heart made friends of anyone he met, including furry four-legged ones.

Paul’s (Papa’s) grandchildren will surely miss his quirky, fun stories, and his ‘best mashed potatoes and banana muffins’.  Paul’s enduring love for his family was no clearer than being the ‘cameraman’ during holiday picture taking, as his face lit-up with joy and happiness seeing the smiles on his loved ones. Paul was one of a kind-smart, dapper, witty, and selfless.  With his beautiful smile, he has left us all many fond memories for us  to cherish.

Paul will be cremated with a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in Paul’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
