Smith, Sharron Louise
January 8, 1953 - January 3, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce Sharron passed away peacefully at the Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener, Ontario on January 3, 2022 at the young age of 68.

Pre-deceased by her parents Frederick George Douglas and Patricia Yuldine Douglas, Sharron is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Al Smith and she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Heather Jocelyne Strain and son-in-law Brandon Strain. She will also be fondly remembered by grandson Spencer George Strain, brother Scott Douglas, sister-in-law Reena Douglas, Paul Douglas (predeceased), sister-in-laws Sharon Spicer, and Dean Wehring, Noreen Trudeau and Maurice Trudeau, nieces Leah Douglas, Emilee Douglas, Jennifer Trudeau, Lisa Trudeau, Michelle Trudeau (predeceased) and nephews Josh Foxall, Christopher Spicer and Shawn Spicer. 

A graduate of the University Waterloo and of Western University. Sharron entered her working career at Guelph Public Library, later moving to Kitchener Public Library where she held several librarian management positions. An avid reader of books, she was a pioneer of the reader's advisory and a member and leader of several book clubs. She was also the author of a resource book on reader's advisory and a frequent lecturer in readers advisory (Library Science) at Western University. 

Sharron travelled around the world with her family and friends including Singapore, England, Bahamas, Italy, Cuba and many of the United States (favourites include NYC and Florida). She especially enjoyed vacations with her daughter and grandson to the Dominican Republic.

While no service will be held at this time, a celebration of life is tentatively planned for next spring (details to come). As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Canadian Cancer Society.
