Vern was the Owner/Operator of Vern Stewart Livestock Trucking. He resided in Ospringe and retired to Guelph, Ontario. He enjoyed the Cottage with his wife Laura, his children, and their families. Vern enjoyed a good BBQ with friends and family. Laura was a welcoming host, great cook, and baker. Vern loved the water, swimming, waterskiing, boating. On land Vern was an avid bocci ball player and in winter months snowmobiling was a passion. TV time was Nascar. Since 1954 Vern logged hours on the road going to the local farms picking up and delivering livestock to Toronto, Cookstown, Kitchener Stockyards. He really enjoyed hauling the local 4H youth’s livestock to the Royal Winter fair and the fall fairs all over Ontario. From time to time his children were able to accompany him to the fairs. In 2006 Vern retired from trucking at the age of 75 years old, selling the trucking business to Roger Gordon and Kevin McArthur. He often reminisced about his farm friends, auctions and the latest truck and cattle prices. His children thought their dad should have authored a book about his livestock experiences.
Vern’s family want to say a Special thank you to Dr. Baig and all the staff at Riverside Glen, Mapleton wing. They cared for Vern as if he was their own family member. Thank you for the encouragement and prayer support from the Ospringe community, Ospringe Presbyterian and River of Life Int’l churches.
