The family of Gerd Bonning is saddened to announce his passing on August 17, 2022 at his home in Caledon, Ontario in his 85th year. He was surrounded by family and left this world peacefully and on his own terms. We are grateful for all the wonderful memories. He was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather who had many friends whom he loved to entertain at his home. The Bonning parties were legendary and enjoyed by all.Gerd was born in Fockbek, Germany July 18, 1938 to Katharina and Hermann Bonning. He was predeceased by brothers Ralph and Kai. He is survived by Horst, and sisters Imme and Ilka, all of Germany, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany.
Gerd came to Canada in 1957 and began work as a bricklayer. He retired at 60 but still continued to do projects, take many photos, enjoy nature, and travel by plane and van across North America. He finally bought his dream tractor to further enjoy his wonderful property.
Gerd leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Eva (Joost), his cherished daughters Sandra (Mike) and Inka (Rob) as well as 7 grandchildren; Ryon, Erika (deceased), Kira, Alex, Talya, Evan and Zack. They shared many happy times with their Opa! Great granddaughters Ryleigh Erika and Rory Eva will continue the beautiful Circle of Life.
Gerd will be greatly missed! Cremation has taken place; no formal service is planned. Condolences may be sent to Passages here or on line or to Eva directly.
