It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mae Caissie at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton on August 12, 2022 at the age of 68 years.The youngest of 7 children and affectionately known as “Lily of the Valley”, Mae was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland on January 4, 1954.
Loving mother to Shelley and Joe; treasured grandmother to Brittany (Greg), Adam (Ashley) and Hailey. Proud Great-grandmother (GG) to Claire and Luke. Special long time friend to Jamie. Dearest sister of Ben, Olive, Mary and Sylvia (Bernard). Mae was predeceased by her parents Ursula and Thomas; brother, Tom; sister, Julia; and sister-in-law, Elaine. Mae will also be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
Mae loved to enjoy good food, wine and laughter in the company of her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending quiet time with a hot cup of tea and her beloved cats Molly and Maggie.
Mae dedicated her life to ensuring the security and care of her special needs son, Joe; she made sure he would always be taken care of. Most of all, Mae’s infectious laughter, lively spirit and endless humor will be eternally cherished and missed but carried in our hearts forever.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful team of doctors, nurses and aids at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton ICU for their compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor at a later date.
