Winch, Joanne

Winch, Joanne
May 25, 1965 – September 22, 2022

On the first day of fall, our beautiful and beloved Joanne Andrea Winch fell asleep in death with her loving husband and her cherished son by her side. Joanne closed her eyes to our enemy death on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in her 57th year.

Born in St. Bonifacio, MB on May, 25, 1965, she will be deeply missed by Stephen, her devoted husband of 30 years. Her daughter Mandy and her son Tyler will miss the joy that she brought to their lives.

Joanne will be lovingly remembered by her father Al; brother Shannon; sisters Gloria and Eva; aunt Donna; cousins Sherryl, Deb, Nicky, Dale, Tim, Darren and Kevin and her brothers-in-law Greg (Sharon),  Neil (Sandra); her sister-in-law Kim (Glen); nephew Ben (Crystal) and niece Ali (Robin).

Joanne was employed for almost 30 years in different roles at McMaster University, the last of which  was the Department of Surgery. Her caring and loving spirit was evident by the way that her coworkers and the students under her care responded so well to her motherly influence.

Joanne’s first love and passion was her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As a result, she used her acquired knowledge to assist others to come to know the truths contained in the Bible. Joanne was an avid student who loved to read and learn.  She enjoyed art, music, camping, movies and cooking.

We want to acknowledge the incredible and compassionate care of the doctors and nurses at St. Peter’s Hospital who made all of us feel at home and kept Joanne calm, relaxed and comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, donations to jw.org as requested by Joanne Winch would be appreciated by the family.

It was Joanne’s deep and heartfelt wish that everyone who would listen to the truths contained in the Bible would do so as they see the conditions in the world continue to deteriorate.
She held onto the promise that Jesus made of the resurrection at John 5:28, long before she herself faced the tragedy of leaving us at such a young age.

John 5:28, 29:  “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement.”

She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

See you in Paradise, JoJo.
