Mapplebeck, Margaret (Marg), Ruth, nee Brown
October 1, 1944 to June 2, 2021.
Margaret passed away peacefully at Georgetown Hospital, losing her battle with liver cancer, on Wednesday, June 2nd, just after 4pm, 2021, at the age of 76.
Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Barry Brian Mapplebeck, who passed away July 31, 2019. Both were born and raised in Timmins, ON, where they met in high school, marrying in December of 1965.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jocelyn Huot, nee Mapplebeck, and Jocelyn's husband Jon Huot, and their son Jirya Huot of Georgetown, ON. Her daughter, Paula Mapplebeck, and her grandaughter, Olivia Mapplebeck both living nearby in the GTA. Her eldest daughter, Jennifer Mapplebeck, and her grandson, Brian Mapplebeck of Edmonton, AB.
She is also survived, by her older sister, Hazel Jarvis, nee Hall, currently of Brockville, ON.
Margaret was a nurse throughout her career, working at both the Smiths Falls, and Perth regional hospitals for almost thirty years while residing in Smiths Falls, ON.
She was an active member of the Eastern Star, as is her sister, Hazel, along with her mother, Eileen Hall, and her husband, Barry Mapplebeck.
Throughout her entire life, Margaret was active in Judo, and later in Aikido, achieving the level of 2nd degree and 4th degree black belt, respectively. She practiced Aikido right up to months prior to her passing.
Margaret actively supported the passions and interests of her daughters. She participated in ballet, jazz, and tap lessons along with her daughters Paula and Jennifer. She was able to share her passion for horses with her youngest daughter, Jocelyn, who currently owns an equestrian business.
Jennifer and Paula would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Jocelyn and Jon Huot who took care of our mother, sharing their home, allowing her the opportunity to live where she wanted in her final phase of her life. Our family would also like to thank the staff at Georgetown Hospital for being gracious and caring toward our Mother and to us during our final days together.
