Trojan, Milena

Trojan, Milena
January 7, 1936 - July 19, 2023

Trojan, Milena (nee Jelinkova) of Kitchener passed away peacefully at Innisfree House on July 19, 2023 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Josef (2001). Lovingly remembered by her brother, Lubomir Jelinek of Australia and her grandnephew, David Manukjan of the United States. As per Milena’s wishes, her body has been cremated and there will be no funeral service. A committal service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery (Waterloo) Wed. Aug. 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Milena and Joe emigrated from Czechoslovakia to Canada in 1969. They chose to live in Kitchener because they were told that many Europeans lived there. She cleaned in a nursing home, and went to school to learn English. Milena had worked in a pediatric hospital in Czechoslovakia, so she went to nursing school here and then worked as a RPN at the K-W Scott Pavilion of Grand River Hospital until her retirement.  She had more than 25 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Both Milena and Joe loved nature and the outdoors, and would leave after work with their dog and drive to their cottage on Dorcas Bay for a few days. Lynda, her friend, took her to the Bloomingdale United Church and Milena joined the book club and got to know some of the ladies in the community. Milena always read the last chapter of the book first so she would know how it would end. Then she read the rest of the book.

Special thanks to Marie and Roy Kavelman for their personal care, especially the past three years. Also appreciation to Innisfree House for the care and dignity given to Milena over the past four months. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made either to Innisfree House or a charity of your choice.
